Navratri End Date
The auspicious nine day festival will get end on October 10. Fasting during nine days are considered very beneficial. Not only spiritual, but fasting these 9 days also hold scientific values too. After nine days fasting, the 10th day is celebrated as Dusshera.
In Year 2017 : Navratri will Star at 21st September 2017 and End at 29th September 2017.
How It’s Celebrated:
The 9th day of Navratri is worshipped the last day of Navratri. On this day, devotees perform Kanya Poojan. Devotees take a bath early in the morning, and worship Lord Durga to bless them. Prashad is cooked after cleaning the kitchen properly.
Nariyal is broken in front of Goddess Durga. People call nine girls to their home and serve them delicious food which is called parshad too. Prashad includes delicious Aloo Sabji, Puri, Halwa, Chana, Sweets and gifts.
Before serving food to all girls, they are also offered red Chunni and Red Tilak on their forehead. After it, devotees head to temples to take blessings. A number of Bhjan, Kirtan and Katha are organised on this day.
Story Behind Navratri :
The nine day Durga Fasting belongs to Ramyana. This vrat was taken when Shri Ram was going to Kill Ravan. This fast was done by Sage Narad to Shri Ram for getting ensure his victory. After it, Lord Ram attached Ravan.
Apart from it, there is another story belongs to this festival. It’s believed that Goddess fought with Mahishasur all nine days, and got success to kill him on the ninth day. And that’s why nine days fasting is celebrated.
