- Story Behind Celebrating Sharad Purnima:
On the auspicious day of Sharad Purnima, the moon comes with all its sixteen Kala and Lord Krishna was born with all sixteen kala. As per mythology, Lord Krishna performed Maha-Raas on this day.
And that’swhy Sharad Purnima is also called Raas Purnima. On this day, Lord Krishna performs the dance of divine love. And Krishna’s dance goes along whole night. Krishna perform dance along with their Gopis on the tune of flutes.
- How it’s celebrated :
On this day, Rice-Kheer is made as a prashad. Rice Kheer is very delicious and tasty sweet dish. It’s made from Sugar, Rice, Cow Milk and Dry Fruits. After preparing, it is left for a whole night in the moonlight.
Though the moon light is considered very auspicious on this day, it’s believed that because of leaving whole night Rice-Kheer has absorbed fortified with the moonlight. And when it’s taken as Prashad, it’s considered as assuming the all sixteen kala of the Moon.
